Soccer Star!!

Miss Avery has been begging to play soccer for quite some time now. We finally got her on a team, and she is lucky enough to play with a bunch of her friends from our ward.

Liam playing on the sidelines, he thinks he's the star!

I'm afraid to say...this is what goes on most of the time. There is also alot of chatting by the little girls while they are runing down the field. The funniest thing during the last game was a girl getting hit on the head with the ball. We all thought it looked pretty cool, like she did it on purpose. But she didn't, and she didn't think it was cool. So while everyone around them are still running and playing , her sweet friend comforted her and gave her a hug. Her friends mom is yelling from the sideline "give her a hug and start playing!" Pretty funny stuff! The poor coaches go hoarse just yelling at them to turn around and run the other way. They are running toward their own goal half the time. It's hilarious!!

So, Avery knew nothing about soccer until her first practice. So, what do they do two days later? This was the VERY FIRST MINUTE OF THE FIRST GAME!! Cody was so worried because he had been working with her all week, reminding her that you aren't allowed to touch the ball with your hands. She looked a little intimidated at first, but by the end of the first game she was running hard and trying to get the ball from the big boys!

At the end of each game the coach gives a certificate to the kid who tried the hardest or did something good to help the team. They get to go to the gate and pick out a prize. The first game her friend Tyler "won the game" because he scored like four goals. She was afraid she'd never get to "win." But look what happened the second game. She got the certificate because she blocked three goals from the other team! She was diving on the ball. It was great. She was so excited and got lots of cheers from the crowd of parents. Hope it cools down soon, the games will be much more enjoyable for me!! I'm happy that she's having such a good time, and that she tries so hard.
Go AVERY!!
